Music For Food is an initiative by musicians to fight hunger in our home communities.

We believe that both music and food are essential to human life and growth, and that music has the power to call forth the best in human beings. We trust that music can inspire awareness and action when artists and audiences work actively together. Our concerts raise funds and resources to foster awareness and fight against hunger. In addition, Music For Food sets forth a model that is replicable in every community.

Why it matters
48 million Americans – one in eight of us – is food insecure every day.

How it works: Music to the ears, food to the table
Music opens and nourishes hearts and minds. MFF serves yet another purpose: we hope our concerts will become a catalyst to galvanize our audience to pass on the gift they receive to the many in our community who are still struggling to physically nourish their families.

The Music for Food Model
We seek to offer a forum for young and seasoned musicians to address the problem of hunger through the gift of music.

Guidelines
All Music for Food concerts are defined by two simple guidelines:
(1) The musicians volunteer their talent and energy.
(2) 100% of donations go to a local hunger relief organization

Impact
Music for Food serves as a creative solution to multiple cultural and societal issues:

  • Fundraising: In attending our concert events, classical music listeners become active and responsible partners in our mission. The gift of music received becomes the gift of food given to the community.
  • Information: We pass on awareness of the serious and hidden nature of hunger at home.
  • Civic Engagement: We empower young and professional musicians to use their talents to actively serve a social need.  In these concerts, skilled musicians transform the ineffable into tangible and needed food resources.

You can designate an already existing concert as a MFF event, or create a new event at a community center or place of worship, or involve your school as a partner.
